About our Resort
Barzan is the only official Nature Preserve in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Strict conservation regulations have earned Barzan its reputation as a pristine and delightful destination. Nature lovers from the world over visit the region at all times of the year. The area is renowned for its sheer beauty, bountiful wildlife, and fauna boasting many species not found elsewhere in Kurdistan or even in the world. It is a photographer’s delight. Hiking and trekking in these mountains are favourite activities as there is no end to the trails and incredible vistas along the way. Ask the Concierge to arrange a guide. Beside the hotel is the oft raging Zab River where one can Kayak and raft. The hotel boasts a unique pool connected to the river where guests can enjoy a swim. There is also an abundance of historical and archaeological sites within a short distance of the hotel including incredible and rare Neanderthal caves. Rubar hotel is the ideal base for a variety of activities whatever your desire may be.
